 Plants & Seed heads

The infinitely the same and yet infinitely differing fractals of natural forms hold a particular fascination for me. The structures and spaces are never quite the same and yet however they hold a unity within their complexity.

Christian Art

My Christian faith influences my work in many ways but exploring the music, buildings and special places of the long Christian tradition around Britain has a particular resonance within my work.

Poems of Place

The process of exploring different aspects of a place in order to create an image is one that I find fascinating. As with poetry or music I aim to overlay these observations into a coherent impression.

Julia’s Sketchbook

My sketchbook is an important first tool for me in responding to a diversity of stimuli. Drawing in a variety of media is the backbone of my work and allows me to “think on paper,” with an immediacy of response.
